The more things change, the more they stay the same. I’ve sat in this same chair for three years in a row on this date. Each new year flying in from a completely different planet with it’s own fashion. I used to feel like a year was it’s own, individual thing but as I grow older everything just seems to mesh together. Past years become bookmarks for events and memories and these new years fade after becoming current reminders that everything is slowly dissipating away, sliding and falling like an authentic Salvador Dali painting no one bothered to gesso, not even the author himself. If I had a glass, I’d tip it, but there’ll be enough of that this evening. To my fellow humans, may 2004 bear blessings and tip the scales on the side of positive recollections of time. Here comes the time of year when you see the year scratched out on checks, datebooks and the headers on school papers...but I guess that's one of those fading memories I was talking about..

Five...four...three...two..one.........2004..
